Jammu. In view of the Lok Sabha elections-2024, the Model Code of Conduct is in force in the entire country. In such a situation, the Election Commission is keeping a close watch on the use of government resources by government officers or officials in elections. Today, the official vehicle of Ramban’s DDC President Shamshada Shan was seized by the election officials in Gool in violation of MCC. DDC Chairperson and National Conference leader Shamshada Shan was attending the public rally of Congress candidate Chaudhary Lal Singh in Gool.
Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) conducted a flag march in the valley on Saturday to instill confidence among voters ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in the state. Flag marches were carried out in various districts of the valley including Baramulla, Kulgam, Pulwama, Shopian, Ganderbal, Bandipora, Budgam and Sopore. Officials said that ‘the flag march is conducted to create a sense of security and confidence among the voters in the valley so that they can participate in the Lok Sabha elections without any fear.’
Out of the three constituencies of the valley, Lok Sabha elections are to be held in Anantnag-Rajouri on May 7, Srinagar on May 13 and Baramulla on May 20. Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and President of People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Mehbooba Mufti will contest the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Anantnag-Rajouri constituency. PDP Parliamentary Committee Chairman Sartaj Madani told reporters on Sunday that Mehbooba Mufti will contest the Lok Sabha elections from Anantnag-Rajouri constituency. PDP Youth Wing President Waheed Para will be the PDP candidate from Srinagar and former Rajya Sabha member Faiyaz Mir from Baramulla constituency.

PDP has decided to support the Congress candidate on Jammu Lok Sabha seat. Mehbooba Mufti will face National Conference’s Mian Altaf Ahmed and Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP)’s Ghulam Nabi Azad. BJP has not yet announced its candidates for the three Lok Sabha seats of the valley.
