Volkswagen Virtus: The German automaker today introduced its much-awaited mid-size sedan all-new Vertus in India. This car has been introduced as a replacement for the old VW Vento. Which will be officially launched for sale in May. Interestingly, the Virtus shares its features, components and engine with the recently launched Slavia. However, both the models appear quite different in design.

Similar to the Skoda Slavia, the new VW Virtus is the second model from the brand to be based on the MQB A0 platform. Let us tell you that both the companies will use this architecture to develop the entry level model. Which can be adapted to different body styles including hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs with different wheelbases.
Segment’s longest wheelbase
As we mentioned above, the new Vertus will replace the Vento in the country. However, it is 4541 mm long, 1752 mm wide and 1487 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2651 mm (longest in the segment). At the front, it gets a single slate grille with chrome surround, LED projector headlamps with integrated L-shaped LED DRLs and a wide air dam with fog lamps on either side.
On the other hand, the side profile gets equipped with dual-tone alloy wheels, a shark fin antenna, door handles with chrome inserts and contrast black ORVMs, and the sedan gets LED taillamps at the rear, along with the VW Vertus GT Line. The trim will also be available with ‘GT’ badging on the front fenders.

Powering the Volkswagen Vertus is powered by a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder TSI and 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder TSI turbocharged petrol engines with the smaller capacity gasoline unit producing 15bhp and 6-speed manual or 6-speed manual transmission.
