New Delhi. The trend of starting startups among the youth has seen a lot in the last four-five years. Some startups did so well that they became unicorns. During this period, there were many startups which collapsed very soon after taking off. The country’s richest municipal corporation, Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC 2024-25 Budget) presented its budget for the financial year 2024-25 on Friday. The special thing is that Rs 10 crore has also been allocated for Civic Tech Startup in the budget. BMC has become the first municipal corporation in the country to allocate Rs. 1000 in this category in the budget. Civic Tech Startup Procurement Policy will be adopted in Mumbai.
This year’s budget of BMC is Rs 59954.75 crore, which is more than last year’s budget of Rs 52,619.1 crore. Compared to last year, this year’s budget is about Rs 750 crore more. It was told that out of the total budget, about Rs 32 thousand crore will be spent on cleanliness and beautification of civic facilities in Mumbai. According to the information received, Rs 31,774.59 crore will be spent on Mumbai’s civic facility, in which the people of Mumbai have been promised cleanliness and beautification.

IS Iqbal Singh Chahal has presented this second budget as administrator since the end of the tenure of the Municipal Corporation. BMC’s capital expenditure of Rs 31,774.59 crore is being spent on development projects to improve the city’s infrastructure such as roads, drains and water projects. Whereas last year BMC had allocated Rs 27,247.80 crore for capital expenditure.
