More than 20 thousand Indian citizens live in Ukraine. Most of them are students. On Tuesday, while presenting its stand in the United Nations Security Council, India said that the safety of Indian citizens is our priority.
Around 240 Indian students arrived in India late in the night by Air India’s Boeing 787 aircraft amid fears of Russia attacking Ukraine. Flight AI 1946 took off from Boryspil International Airport in Ukraine’s capital Kiev at around 6 pm (IST) and landed at Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport at around 11.40 am on Tuesday. After landing in Delhi, all the students looked happy and expressed their happiness in front of the media. The students said that it is a great feeling to return to their homeland. News agency ANI has also released the video of the interaction with the students.
What did the students say on the situation in Ukraine
Many Indians returning to India are students pursuing medical education in Ukraine. Referring to the ground situation, the students said that at present the situation is peaceful, but many people are very scared about the future. The students said that we have followed the advice of the embassy in which the students have been asked to leave the country at the earliest. The students said that we feel very happy to return to our homeland.
