World Flights from India to Dubai have been disrupted to a great extent due to water logging at Dubai Airport, one of the busiest airports in India, due to heavy rains. Air India, which operates 72 flights a week to Dubai from various cities of the country, canceled its flight services on Wednesday. An Air India spokesperson said that due to adverse weather in Dubai, it had to cancel flights to and from the Gulf country on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Permission given to change the date of travel
The spokesperson said, “We are trying our best to get the affected passengers back on the flights as soon as possible in the next few days. We are also giving the flexibility to change the date once to passengers with valid tickets for 16th and 17th.” Meanwhile, an official said that 10 flights from Delhi airport to Dubai were canceled on Wednesday. While nine flights coming from Dubai to the national capital were cancelled. Details about the canceled flights were not immediately available.
Bad condition due to heavy rain
Heavy rains continued in many parts of the UAE since late Monday night, after which the situation looked dire. After heavy rains in the capital Dubai, a flood like situation was created. Dubai’s streets, houses and malls were flooded. Authorities have issued a warning amid heavy rain. The National Meteorological Center has issued a red alert in many areas of the country and appealed to the people to remain ‘vigilant’. The alert was issued till 6 pm on Wednesday. Heavy rain has wreaked havoc in Oman also. 18 people have died here due to rain. Apart from this, flood like situations have arisen in cities like Abu Dhabi and Al Ain after heavy rains. Many major highways and airports were flooded, due to which air traffic has been badly affected. Many people are also reported missing due to heavy rains.
