On Friday evening, a chartered plane carrying Chief Minister Banerjee from Varanasi airport collided with an air pocket, leaving the plane badly shaken. However, the pilot was able to regain control of the aircraft and eject it from the air pocket. The pilot made the plane land safely at Netaji Subhash Chandra International Airport.
Mamta Banerjee’s back injury, TMC raised demand for investigation
During this, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee suffered a back injury. The aircraft was the Dassault Falcon 2000, a 10.3-tonne light aircraft. It has the capacity to carry a total of 19 people including two flight attendants. On the other hand, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) in the state has demanded a high-level inquiry into the matter.
TMC national spokesperson Sukhendu Shekhar said that this is a serious matter and poses a threat to the Chief Minister. He said, from aviation point of view, DGCA should do a high level inquiry. Apart from this, from the point of view of the security of the Chief Minister with Z category security, the Center should conduct a separate inquiry into it.
