Kolkata. Nowadays courts are in discussion for various reasons. In this, the judges’ decisions and their comments have become the main reason. Similar is the case with the Calcutta High Court. The Calcutta High Court is in the news these days because it has ordered an inquiry into the abduction of a pig. The name of the pig is Ghana. He used to roam around the Kalyani district court complex. Lawyers liked him. About 4 months ago, suddenly one day a car reached the court premises and the people in it picked up Ghana. The lawyers petitioned the High Court that the police were not investigating the Ghana kidnapping. Then the court ordered the SP of Ranaghat district to investigate the matter and search Ghana. Let us tell you that Azam Khan’s buffaloes were also stolen when he was a minister in UP and a police team was engaged in that case. Now on the orders of the High Court, the police of Mamta government will find the pig.
Lawyers in the Calcutta High Court said that Ghana had lived in the court premises for many years. He was a familiar creature to the people. Many lawyers also used to give him food. He was then kidnapped on 25 March. The incident of kidnapping of the pig happened in the night. Guards at the Kalyani district court complex said that people in the car picked up Ghana. The car was white in color and its number plate was yellow. The guards also made a video of them being taken to Ghana. The lawyers were angry that the police had registered a case, but did not make any effort to find the pig.
On the plea of lawyers, Justice Shampa Sarkar took a jibe at the police. He strongly criticized the inaction of the police in this matter. Justice Sarkar wanted to know why the police could not trace the car and the accused till now even after making a video of the Ghana kidnapping. Justice Sarkar has appointed Ranaghat’s SP as the investigating officer. He said that action should also be taken against those who do not add sections of the Cruelty to Animals Act 1979 in the FIR. Along with this, the High Court also directed to further strengthen the security in Kalyani Court.
