Japan is very famous for its time accuracy. If any train is late in Japan, it is as if history is made. In such a situation, if the train gets late due to the mistake of the driver, then something similar happened this time due to which 56 (about 5 and a half thousand rupees) pounds were deducted from the driver’s salary. Against this decision of the company, a case of 14300 pounds (about 14 lakhs) was registered against the company in the driver’s court.
According to a report in ‘Daily Mail’, on June 18 last year, the driver had left for an empty train from Okaya station. During this suddenly he started having stomach ache and he went to the bathroom. During this he gave charge to his junior driver. But the junior driver started running the train on the wrong platform. Due to this, there was a delay of one minute each in the arrival and departure of the train. Due to this delay, West Japan Railway had reduced his July salary by Rs 5600. The reason was given by the company that no work was done during these two minutes. In front of this decision of the company, the driver reached Okayama Labor Standard Inspection Office. Here the train delay was reduced from two minutes to one minute by the company and the penalty amount was also reduced to 28 pounds. However, the driver argued that there was no deflection in the timesheet of the train due to him. The driver decided to take the matter to Okayama District Court.
In the court, the driver had demanded a compensation of 14 lakhs from the company by mentioning the sufferings like tarnishing his image, causing mental agony in return for the punishment imposed on him against the company. However, the company still sticks to its principle of ‘no work, no pay’. On which the driver declared ineligible to deduct the salary for human error.Even on social media, people are appearing in favor of the driver in this matter. One user told that mistakes happen to everyone. In such a situation, it is not right to cut the salary till it is not a big deal. On the other hand, another user wrote that if this becomes normal, then salary cuts will start by companies in small mistakes.
