New Delhi. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday night in a money laundering case related to excise policy and took him to its office here. After undergoing medical here, Kejriwal has been sent to lockup at night. The woman accused in the Delhi liquor scam case is lodged in the lockup next to the ED office in which Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal is lodged. This woman is none other than the poet who was arrested by the ED just a few days ago. Let us tell you that there is no bed in the ED lockup where Arvind Kejriwal will spend the night. It is being told that Arvind will spend the night on the lockup ground.
Earlier, the ED team had reached Arvind Kejriwal’s house on Thursday evening. Kejriwal was arrested here after two hours of interrogation. When ED was taking Arvind Kejriwal with it after his arrest, he also took a box of clothes and medicines with him. His arrest came hours after the Delhi High Court refused to grant relief to the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national coordinator from any coercive action by the agency. This is the first case of arrest of a Chief Minister while in office.

Officials said that in the day’s rapidly changing developments, a 10-member team of the agency led by an additional director of ED reached his official residence in Civil Lines here and conducted a search. He was arrested more than two hours after the ED team reached the Chief Minister’s residence. Sources said that ED interrogated Kejriwal for some time before arresting him. He said that some seizures were also made during the raid. According to officials, the federal agency took Kejriwal to its office in Central Delhi in an SUV at around 11.25 pm. He was seen in the back seat of the car. There were three ED officers with him in the car. He said that a team of doctors called by the ED checked up Kejriwal and kept him in custody before producing him in the court. Medical checkup is a prescribed procedure for people who are arrested.

Kejriwal’s 16th arrest in this case
This is the 16th arrest in this case by the ED. Officials said the ED will produce the Chief Minister in a court here on Friday and request for his custody for questioning. ED has so far filed six chargesheets in this case and has attached assets worth Rs 128 crore. Kejriwal had avoided nine summons issued by the agency for questioning in the case. Of these, a new summons was issued on Thursday, March 21. He has termed these summons as ‘illegal’. While ED officials took action inside Kejriwal’s residence, additional forces of Delhi Police and Rapid Action Force (RAF) and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were deployed around the Chief Minister’s residence.
AAP reached Supreme Court
A large number of AAP supporters and leaders gathered near the Chief Minister’s residence and raised slogans against the ED action. They raised slogans in support of Kejriwal and condemned the action of ED. Delhi Police has also increased security around the agency’s office located on APJ Abdul Kalam Road in Central Delhi. Earlier in the day, Kejriwal moved the Supreme Court against the High Court’s order refusing to grant any relief in the case.
K Kavita also on ED remand till 23
Last week, former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao’s daughter and Bharat Rashtra Samiti (BRS) leader K. Kavita was arrested by the agency from her residence in Hyderabad, who is currently in ED custody till March 23 in the same case. This case pertains to alleged corruption and money laundering in the preparation and implementation of Delhi Excise Policy for 2021-22. However, this policy was later canceled.
