New Delhi. The World Health Organization (WHO) has dealt a blow to the African market by issuing a warning to the pharmaceutical companies of India. The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued a warning saying that it is more likely that 66 children in The Gambia have died due to drinking 4 cough syrups made in India. This news is worrying from India’s point of view. Since this warning given by the World Health Organization, the Government of India has started an investigation of four cough syrups manufactured by a Haryana-based pharmaceutical company. On this matter, top sources in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare have said that the WHO has alerted the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) about cough syrup.
According to the news received from the sources, the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization immediately took up the matter with the Haryana Regulatory Authority and started its investigation immediately.
As per the WHO alert, the four cough syrups include Promethazine Oral Solution, Cofaxmaline Baby Cough Syrup, Macoff Baby Cough Syrup and Magrip N Cold Syrup. Sources said that these cough syrups have been manufactured by M/s Maiden Pharmaceutical Limited at Sonipat in Haryana.
The World Health Organization’s warning on this entire matter said, “The company that made it has not given any guarantees to the WHO on the safety and quality of these medicines.”
According to the Government of India, as per the available information, it appears that the firm had exported these medicines only to Gambia. At the same time, the company has not yet given any satisfactory reply to these allegations.

According to media reports, due to the toxic effect of these drugs, many types of problems start to occur due to stomach pain, vomiting, diarrhea, urinary obstruction, headache, effect on the brain and effect on the kidney. At the same time, on this matter, the WHO says that these medicines should not be used until the authority of the country concerned is fully investigated. This can lead to other life-threatening diseases.
At the same time, the World Health Organization is adopting a very sensitive attitude on the death of children in The Gambia. In such a situation, this is not a good news for India because India is a big supplier of medicines all over the world. If this incident has happened because of 4 cough syrup, then the reputation of Indian pharmaceutical companies will be affected in the international market.
