New Delhi: Temple-mosque dispute is going on in Jalgaon from Maharashtra. Now this dispute has reached the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court ordered that the keys of the mosque located in Erandol taluka of Jalgaon will remain with the Municipal Council. Let us tell you that the bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice KV Vishwanathan was hearing the appeal of Jumma Masjid Trust Committee against the order of Bombay High Court.
The High Court had directed the Trust to return the keys of Jalgaon Mosque to the Municipal Council by 13 April. The bench also clarified that the Municipal Council will depute an officer to open the gate before the start of morning prayers and till the prayers are offered. The bench further said that till further orders the mosque premises should remain under the control of the Waqf Board or Trust.

Was stopped from offering namaz in the mosque
The Supreme Court further said that the interim arrangement will remain in place till the Collector finally disposes of the proceedings. In fact, Hindu group Pandavwada Sangharsh Samiti has claimed that the mosque is a temple and has been encroached upon by the local Muslim community. On this, the Collector passed an interim order stopping people from offering prayers in the mentioned mosque.
Also, the Collector had directed the Jumma Masjid Trust Committee to hand over the keys of the mosque to the Chief Officer of Erandol Municipal Council. The Trust had approached the High Court against the Collector’s order. However, the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court had stayed this order. But later the High Court rejected the trust as meaningless and directed to hand over the keys to the council.
