How To Take Antibiotics: Often you must have seen that people start taking antibiotics without consulting a doctor to get rid of cold, cough and fever. They feel that antibiotics are effective in every disease and they can provide relief from the problem. Many people start taking antibiotics even in viral infections. However, these medicines should not be taken without the advice of a health expert. This can cause serious health risks and may also cause problems in getting treatment in future. After all, under what conditions and when should antibiotics be taken?
of New Delhi Dr. Sonia Rawat, Director of Preventive Health and Wellness Department of Sir Gangaram Hospital told AnyTV. That antibiotics are used to eliminate bacterial infections. Antibiotics should not be taken in case of viral or other problems. Viral infection cannot be cured by taking antibiotics. Doing this creates antibiotic resistance in the body. If resistance to any antibiotic develops in the body, then that medicine will not work on it. There is also a systematic way of giving antibiotics.
According to Doctor Sonia, in case of mild infection, antibiotics are given for 3 days. If the infection is severe, a course of antibiotics has to be taken for 7 days. In severe infection, a course of antibiotics is given for 15 days or more as per need. These medicines should be taken properly after expert advice. There should not be a gap in taking this medicine, otherwise the infection will not be cured. This will not completely eliminate the bacteria spread in the body and the problem will persist. To avoid this, people should take antibiotics regularly in a proper manner.
According to experts, there are different types of antibiotics and they are recommended according to the diseases. Some antibiotics do not work for many patients, which can be ascertained from the reports. In such conditions they have to be given other antibiotics. Therefore, people should not take antibiotics themselves, because it is possible that the medicine may not have any effect on them. Antibiotics should always be taken after doctor’s advice. Taking antibiotics repeatedly as per your wish can have adverse effects on your liver and kidneys. It can have serious side effects.
