New Delhi. The Supreme Court had allowed the 14-year-old rape victim to abort her pregnancy at 30 weeks. However, now the bench of Chief Justice DY Chandrachud withdrew its order of April 22 on Monday after talking to the girl’s parents.
Describing the welfare of this minor girl as ‘extremely important’, the apex court had on April 22, using its powers under Article 142 of the Constitution, allowed the girl to abort her pregnancy. Under Article 142, the court has the right to pass necessary orders for complete justice in any case.

However, on Monday, the bench of CJI DY Chandrachud and Justice JB Pardiwala, Justice Manoj Mishra heard the case in the court room at 2 pm and talked to Additional Solicitor General Aishwarya Bhati, who was assisting the bench, and the lawyer of the minor girl’s parents. .

Lawyers associated with the case said that the girl’s parents interacted with the judges through video-conference. The girl’s parents said that they have decided to wait for the entire pregnancy period. After this, the bench led by the Chief Justice accepted the arguments of the parents and withdrew the order of April 22.
