Ramkumar Nayak/Raipur. Can Ayushman Bharat scheme, which is proving to be a boon for every section, be closed? This is because the private hospitals of Chhattisgarh have outstanding dues of about Rs 800 crore. Doctors of IMA i.e. Indian Medical Association have expressed their displeasure regarding the payment. The private hospitals of Chhattisgarh associated with the Indian Medical Association have outstanding dues of about Rs 800 crore. Doctors in the meeting have warned of stopping work under the scheme. According to the information received from Ayushman Bharat Scheme, a total of 21746087 Ayushman e-cards have been made so far in Chhattisgarh. Till now 3263558 people have been benefited under 5523631 claims. Apart from the urban areas, Ayushman Bharat scheme had proved to be a boon especially for the poor and rural areas, but now there is a doubt about whether this scheme will be closed.
IMA Raipur President Dr. Rakesh Gupta says that due to continuous pending payments regarding Ayushman Bharat scheme, small hospitals are almost at the point of closure. Many big hospitals have stopped working under the Ayushman Bharat scheme and have started turning away patients. If the situation of pending payments does not improve in the coming days, then you will be forced to stop doing all the work. Because one has to pay the medicine bill, salary of the hospital staff or the visiting doctor. Small hospitals are not in a position to provide that. The situation will remain like this until the cash flow improves.
Most of the patients are Ayushman card holders and about 90% of the patients in small hospitals are card holders of Ayushman Bharat scheme. Therefore, it is becoming a bit difficult to work until the amount is received. Many hospital operators have also said that non-essential or urgent operations that are not required should be postponed. Dr Rakesh Gupta further says that almost 100% hospitals in Chhattisgarh treat patients under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. There are 800 such nursing homes where there are a large number of patients.

problem due to non payment
There are about 260 hospitals in the capital Raipur itself where patients are treated under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. Villagers from different parts of Chhattisgarh come to Raipur for better treatment. About Rs 800 crore is left to be paid by private and government hospitals across the state. If the payment situation in private hospitals does not improve then we will have to stop the treatment of patients. This is an unwanted situation, yet hospitals have to take this step in their own interest, they cannot keep borrowing too much. IMA and private hospital operators have met Chhattisgarh Health Minister Shyam Bihari Jaiswal twice. He had also met the then Additional Chief Secretary Renu Pillai once. The Chief Minister is also aware of this but still the situation of payment has not been made nor is there any hope.
