In a written reply to a question in the Lower House, Minister of State for Home Ajay Kumar Mishra said that those who made sacrifices during the freedom struggle were martyred so that India could get freedom. Mishra said that the martyrdom of these freedom fighters is an invaluable contribution in the struggle for India’s freedom. “Their martyrdom for the supreme national cause of independence is a fact and does not depend on the existence or not of any official record,” he said.
BJP MP Jyotirmoy Mahato had asked whether the government would give martyr status to fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev who sacrificed their lives during the freedom struggle. On this, the Union Minister said that the nation will always be grateful to the fighters like Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, Sukhdev who sacrificed their lives for the better future of India and their names will always be written in golden letters.
