New Delhi. On the instructions of the Yogi government of Uttar Pradesh, there is a hearing in the Supreme Court today against the ongoing bulldozer campaign on illegal houses of rioters and violence. In this case, the Muslim organization Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind had applied in the Supreme Court. A bench of Justice AS Bopanna and Justice Vikram Nath will hear the matter. Jamiat has requested the court to stop the government’s action to run bulldozers in UP. Apart from this, the Muslim organization has also demanded action against the officers running the bulldozer campaign.
In the application given by the Jamiat in the Supreme Court, it has been said that there was a derogatory remark against Prophet Mohammad. In protest against this, on June 3, Muslims demonstrated in Kanpur. He clashed with some Hindus and stone pelting took place in both the communities. After this, on the instructions of the UP government, the Kanpur administration took unilateral action and only the houses of Muslims were demolished by bulldozers. It has been said in the application that the statements given by the UP CM, ADG and Kanpur Police Commissioner before the action of the bulldozer, it seems that only one party was deliberately targeted.
Jamiat says that the action of the bulldozer is in violation of the UP Regulation of Building Operation Act and the UP Urban Planning and Development Act. Under these laws, 15 days before the demolition of the house, it is a matter of giving notice to its owner and 30 days to appeal, but this was not followed in Kanpur. It has also been said in the application that the court has also banned the running of bulldozers in Delhi’s Jahangirpuri. Already many more applications are in the court. In such a situation, bulldozer action should be stopped in UP too.
