The Israeli intelligence agency Mossad is considered one of the most powerful and dangerous agencies in the world. It is said that Mossad gives his life to make his mission successful. But in the year 1997, that occasion also came when a mission of Mossad failed and then it was insulted all over the world.
Actually, in the year 1997, the Prime Minister of Israel was Benjamin Netanyahu. During his tenure, a complete plan was made to kill the leader of Hamas, Khalid Mashal. Khalid Mashal was living a life of exile in those days in Jordan. Because, many years ago in 1967 itself, about 3 lakh Palestinians, including his family, were expelled by Israeli forces. Khalid Mashal joined Hamas in the 90s and then later became its leader.
In such a situation, Mossad launched a mission to kill Mashal. According to this mission, there was a plan to hide Khalid Mashal in the city of Amman, Jordan. The entire planning was told to the spies of Mossad. After this, 6 Mossad spies arrived in Amman on Canadian passports. Two spies of these team were given the responsibility of killing the target. Both of them were trying to reach Hamas leader Khalid Mashal by becoming Canadian tourists.
The agents of the Mossad were given a poison called fentanyl, which passed into the body through the skin. The Mossad began the mission and as Khalid Mashal headed for his office, spies used aerosol equipment to inject poison into the body. However, in the meantime, Khalid’s bodyguards ran and caught the Mossad agents. It was then revealed that four agents were hiding in the Israeli embassy in Jordan itself.
The mission failed and Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu accepted the whole process. On the other hand, the King of Jordan warned that if anything happened to Mashal, the peace treaty would be broken. Along with this, the agents will also get harsh punishment. After this, in exchange for freeing the agents, Israel had to give the antidote of poison and also had to release Sheikh Ahmed Yasin of Hamas and his associates.
When this mission of Mossad failed, he was scolded all over the world and Benjamin Netanyahu had to apologize. Then the Mossad remained quiet for a few years, but in 2004, when Israel killed Yasin, Khalid Mashal became the leader of Hamas.
