Crisis in Srilanka: In neighboring Sri Lanka, the situation has become explosive due to inflation and economic crisis. On the one hand unemployment is at its peak and on the other hand people are yearning for the things they need. The situation in Sri Lanka, which has been facing a severe crisis for the past almost a year, has now become so bad that two people standing in line for petrol died on Sunday. Fuel prices are skyrocketing in the country and due to this people are very upset. Police spokesman in Colombo, Nalin Thaladuwa, said both the victims were in their 70s. Both were waiting for petrol and kerosene at different places.
For a few weeks, the situation is so bad that petrol pumps open only for a few hours and people queue up hours before to get it. Apart from this, the power supply is also getting interrupted. There is a power cut situation for a long time. Electricity is being available only for essential services. The police spokesperson who died was a 70-year old auto driver. The situation may worsen in the coming days as the work at the country’s only oil refinery has come to a standstill. Not only this, there is also a shortage of LPG. A 12 kg LPG cylinder is getting up to Rs 1,359 in Sri Lanka these days.
Future also ruined: Exams of students postponed due to lack of paper
A large number of people are now forced to cook food only with kerosene, that too is available only after standing in long lines. The effect of the crisis prevailing in the country is also visible on the students. Due to the shortage of paper in the country, the school examinations of the students had to be canceled. In fact, Sri Lanka imports paper for its needs and due to lack of dollars, it is unable to import it. In such a situation, the only way in front of him was to cancel the examinations only. Education authorities said that the school examinations in the country were scheduled to be held from Monday, but they have been postponed indefinitely due to paucity of paper.
