Xiaomi has decided to end support for some of its Redmi and Mi phones. Xiaomi added 10 additional devices to its end of support (EOS) list this week. This means that the company will no longer be rolling out firmware and software upgrades for these devices. Xiaomi has not been very regular with its device update cycle and has released only one or two Android updates for these handsets. The tablets and phones included in Xiaomi’s EOS list are more than two years old.
Xiaomi constantly launches new smartphones in the market. This is the reason why the brand adds more devices to its EOS list than any other smartphone maker. Xiaomi’s EOS list includes many popular Redmi, Redmi Note, Mi phones and Mi tablets.
Devices included in Xiaomi’s EOS list
1. Redmi K20 (Redmi K20)
2. Redmi Note 7 (Redmi Note 7)
3. Redmi Note 7S (Redmi Note 7S)
4. Redmi Note 7 Pro (Redmi Note 7 Pro)
5. Redmi 7 (Redmi 7)
6. Redmi Y3 (Redmi Y3)
7. Mi Pad 4
8. Mi Pad 4 Plus
9. Mi Play
10. Mi 9 SE
The Redmi K20 smartphone was launched three years ago and is the most popular of the list of 10 devices supported. Apart from this, the company has also ended support from Xiaomi’s Mi Pad 4.
Let us tell you that most of the Xiaomi phones get support for only two Android versions. And none of the 10 devices in the list received the MIUI 13 update. Xiaomi follows a two-year Android software update cycle for its devices. And all the devices in the list are older than 2 years, so no one has been released the latest MIUI 13 update.
It is worth noting that Xiaomi has recently announced a partnership with Lecia for the camera of the upcoming flagship phone.
