New Delhi. Yogi government has given a big gift to the farmers of the state. In the cabinet meeting held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the government has approved the decision to install 2100 state tube wells in the ground water safe blocks of 62 districts of the state. On one hand, due to scanty rainfall, farmers will get relief from the problem of irrigation. On the other hand, with the construction of these tube wells, new employment opportunities will also be available for the workers of the state. Addressing the journalists in the press conference organized at Lok Bhavan, Agriculture and Agriculture Education and Agricultural Research Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said that the government will spend Rs 841 crore 98 lakh 83 thousand on this project. With this, apart from general, backward, scheduled castes and tribes, marginal and small farmers of the state will get the benefit of irrigation facilities. The Agriculture Minister said that one tube well would be able to irrigate 50 hectares of fields. At the same time, there will be an additional increase in the irrigation capacity of 1 lakh 5 thousand hectares of land with this scheme. Under the project, tube wells will not be installed in any dark or gray block. He informed that this project will start in 2022-2023 and will be completed by 2023-2024.
34316 Irrigation is being done by state tube wells
At present 87 percent net crop area is being irrigated in the state. Out of 143.37 lakh hectare in the state, 107.30 lakh hectare area is being irrigated through state tube wells and private tube wells, in which 74.90 percent irrigation is being done through private and state tube wells. At present, irrigation facility is being provided to the farmers through 34316 state tube wells in the state.
MNREGA workers will get employment
This project started by the government will also provide new employment opportunities for MNREGA workers. 21 lakh man-days will be created through the project at different block and panchayat level of the state. Remote sensing (registration survey and logging etc.), drilling, development, construction of pump house, delivery tank, header and laying of 1.2 km underground PVC pipeline under water distribution system, 10 outlets on each tube well to be constructed under the project. Construction and energy work will be done.
Government will give Toria seed minikit to the farmers of the state
In view of the weak monsoon condition and scanty rainfall in the state, the Yogi government has taken another important decision in the cabinet meeting in the interest of the farmers. The government will give free toria seed minikits to the farmers of the state. This packet of two kilograms will be given under the scheme of grant on state funded certified seeds, on which Rs 4 crore 57 lakh 60 thousand will be spent. Free seed minikits of Toria will be distributed in a transparent manner in the presence and cooperation of Gram Panchayats and public representatives. Farmers will be benefited from this facility on a ‘first come-first served’ basis. Efforts will also be made to ensure the participation of 30 percent women farmers in this.
