Ratlam (Rep. of New Zealand). The court, on being found guilty in the case of raping a 15-year-old teenager, sentenced the accused, 24-year-old Utkarsh son Mahendra Singh, resident of Lahi Gali Thawaria Bazar, to twenty years of rigorous imprisonment under Section 376 (3) of IPC. He was also fined two thousand rupees. Judge Afzal Khan of POCSO Act Special Court pronounced the verdict.
According to the prosecution, in June 2017, accused Utkarsh had sent a fend request to the teenager on Facebook. After that the two became friends. One day Utkarsh told the teenager that he has some photos of you, take a look, otherwise he will make a bad name by making it viral among his friends. He had invited her to a garden. When she went to meet her out of fear, she took her behind the ruins of Mahalwara and forced her to have physical relations with him. Due to fear, he did not tell the incident to anyone. He studied engineering in Jhabua. Whenever Ratlam came, he used to threaten and call him and take him to village Karmadi by vehicle and rape him. When the girl was pregnant, Utkarsh brought her a pill. A report was lodged at the Station Road police station on December 25. The police had arrested Utkarsh after registering a case. Special Public Prosecutor Tarun Sharma appeared on behalf of the government in the case. Sharma said that the accused Utkarsh was sentenced to three years’ rigorous imprisonment and a fine of two thousand rupees under section 312 of IPC. Both the sentences will run concurrently.
