The YouTube Go app for cheap phones is set to be discontinued in August 2022! In fact, it was launched in 2016 as a lighter version of the YouTube app introduced for affordable Android Go smartphones. Those already using the YouTube Go app are now advised to either access YouTube through a web browser, or install the main YouTube app from the Google Play Store. The Go app was essentially a lite version of the main YouTube app. If you are also your Android Go user, then read what options you have now…
App came with limited features
The YouTube Go app dropped many of the main app’s features to make it easier to run on low-end phones. The Go version of the app dropped the ability to comment, post, create content, and use the dark theme. In 2016, the app was introduced for users in regions where factors like connectivity, data prices and low-end devices affected the overall user experience.
YouTube Go app to shut down in August
Now that the YouTube Go app is shutting down, the main YouTube app promises to work better on low-end devices with connectivity issues.

Upgrade user to main app
YouTube Go is still slated to run until August and that should give people enough time to either upgrade to the main app, or move to a better phone to get the full YouTube experience in a better way.
The app came for Android Go users
Now it remains to be seen whether Google removes the plug on Android Go, which is the lite version of Android for affordable smartphones. Android Go is used by some entry-level smartphones which provide a well-optimized user experience. However, most modern-day affordable Android phones are powerful enough to run the latest and most powerful versions of Android with ease.
