The World Health Organization was established on 7 April 1948, due to which this day was chosen to celebrate World Health Day. In 1950, two years after the establishment of WHO, it was decided to celebrate World Health Day and after that the World Health Organization took the initiative to celebrate it globally. Since then the celebration of Health Day started. On this occasion, for the first time in 1950, all the countries associated with WHO celebrated World Health Day. After that, as other countries joined the WHO, the tradition of celebrating International Health Day on 7 April every year started in those countries too.
Objective
The main objective of celebrating this day is to make people aware to spread equal health facilities in all the countries of the world, to dispel health myths and misconceptions and to work on improving them after considering the problems related to global health etc. The purpose of celebrating Health Day is On this day, awareness campaigns are conducted on topics related to health services, facilities and patient care.
Theme of World Health Day 2022
World Health Day is celebrated every year under a theme, on the basis of this theme the work is outlined. This year i.e. the theme of the year 2022 has been kept as ‘Our planet, our health’, which aims to focus on the health of every human living on our planet. On the occasion of World Health Day, India is organizing ‘Yoga Amrit Mahotsav’, which is being organized by the Ministry of AYUSH. The theme of World Health Day 2021 was ‘Building a Fair, Healthy World’. At the same time, the theme of the year 2020 was “Support Nurses and Midwives”.
