New Delhi. While celebrating the elixir of freedom, it is necessary to remember our brothers and sisters of Jammu and Kashmir, who are the victims of the oppression of Pakistan, their descendants are still doomed to suffer exploitation and oppression and eat stumbling blocks. It is a national duty to ensure justice to the displaced and residents of Pak Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. Indeed, POJK is the sacrificial land of post-independence India. One such effort is ‘Shraddhanjali and Punyabhoomi Smaran Sabha’ organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum on May 8, 2022 in Jammu. By joining this gathering, thousands of displaced people of Pakistan Occupied Jammu and Kashmir will remember the sacrifice and sacrifice of their ancestors. It is an opportunity to pay tribute to the countless sons of Mother India who did not give up their values, religion and culture and to stand with their descendants. Along with this, he will also voice his ‘ghar wapsi’ and his rights. The purpose of this gathering is to send a message to Pakistan, China and the world that every Indian is not ignorant of the sacrifice and pain of the oppressed and displaced brothers and sisters of his POJK. The entire nation is united and determined to prevent their suffering and protect national unity and integrity.
The major areas of Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir are Neelam, Hatian Bala, Mirpur, Deva Batala, Bhimber, Kotli, Bagh Pulandari, Sadanoti, Rawalkot, Muzaffarabad, Poonch, Gilgit and Baltistan etc. In the subsequent two battles (1965 and 1971), Pakistan also captured the Chhamb sector with diplomatic cunning. Many holy sites like Maa Sharda Peeth, Maa Mangala Devi Temple, and Guru Hargobind Singh Gurdwara are under illegal occupation of Pakistan. The language, food, dress and culture of the people of POJK is more Indian than Pakistani. Languages like Kashmiri, Gojri, Pahari, Hindko etc. are spoken here. This region is very important not only from geo-strategic point of view, but also because of its natural resources and cultural richness. Today Shia Muslims live here. Hindus and Sikhs also lived in large numbers at the time of independence. Almost as many atrocities on non-Muslims i.e. Hindus and Sikhs are being committed on Shia Muslims today. Even today they are considered second class Muslims and second class citizens. Amjad Ayub and courageous people like Dr. Shabbir Choudhary (London), Jameel Maqsood (Brussels), Mansoor Ahmed Pashteen (Waziristan), Arif Azaqiya, Haji Syed Salman Chishti, Zafar Choudhary and Javed Rahi have been repeatedly calling the victims of POJK from different forums. The voices are loud.
The public meeting organized by the Jammu and Kashmir People’s Forum has not only symbolic but also strategic importance. Concrete measures should be discussed in this meeting to get back our land and make the resolution of homecoming come true. The attention of the international society should also be drawn to the sacrifices and sufferings of these displaced people. Violation of human rights, oppression of democracy, desecration of mothers and sisters, suppression by the petty government and polity of the Pakistani army, terrorist organizations thriving under the supervision of the Pakistani army and the cultivation and smuggling of narcotics, Pakistan’s The tales of demographic changes, demolition of temples and gurudwaras, damage to idols, etc., being carried out by settling Sindhi-Punjabi Muslim community, are the daily journal of Pak Occupied Kashmir. The crime of the people suffering all this is that they want to be part of the Republic of India as per the Instrument of Accession dated 26 October 1947, signed by Maharaja Harisingh. Want to join India’s progress and prosperity. We want peace and happiness, which will never happen in Pakistan, which has become a ‘failed nation’.
This is a historic occasion that we should take care of the forgotten parts of our country and the countrymen by making reforms. Make some concrete plans for their honor and rights. The present central government has shown strong will towards the solution of Jammu and Kashmir problem. Showing full sensitivity, sympathy and goodwill towards the POJK oustees, it has launched a relief package of Rs 2000 crores, other facilities and schemes. But it is unfair not to include the displaced people settled outside Jammu and Kashmir in this relief package. Due to the communal policy and neglectful attitude of the then Jammu and Kashmir government, many displaced people had to take shelter in different states. The POJK Displaced Committee has given a memorandum to Home Minister Amit Shah and demanded from the Government of India to give the benefit of these relief schemes to all the refugees settled in different places. Such packages and projects are also being implemented for the displaced people of Kashmir Valley. But there is a need to increase the scope and level of these relief schemes. The Citizenship (Amendment) Act-2019 is one such notable relief scheme. Special provisions have been made for the displaced people of Kashmir Valley for admission in educational institutions and government services of the country. There is also a need to include the POJK displaced in its purview. Due to being a citizen of India, their ancestors had to bear unbearable cruelty and torture and they themselves are forced to live in difficult conditions even today; The government and civil society of that India need to stand unitedly with them and wipe their tears and reassure them.
Just as China is conspiring to set up villages on the Indian border in the Ladakh region, India should also take the initiative to establish colonies of army and paramilitary forces in the Kashmir Valley and in the border areas of POJK. Land should be acquired and developed for the countrymen to settle down and start business here. Affordable housing and commercial plots, easy loans, subsidized interest rates, arms licenses and weapons etc. should be ensured for migrant workers and entrepreneurs. These people will be able to play an effective role with the army and the local society in combating terrorism and recovering the lost land. These measures will prove to be effective in ending the domination of terrorists. By giving martyr status to innocent civilians and their families with economic, social and physical security, a civil society can be created to fight terrorism fearlessly. How long will a handful of mercenary terrorists be able to stand in front of the social resolve and organization!
The Delimitation Commission headed by Justice Ranjana Desai has given its final report, in which 9 seats have been reserved for Scheduled Tribes. The commission has recommended the nomination of two migrants from the Kashmir Valley, including a woman. Similarly, a recommendation has also been made for the nomination (number is not clear) of the displaced from Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. This is the first time this has been done. So it is appreciated and welcome. However, more representation should have been given by election rather than by nomination. There were demands to this effect from these communities and the nationalist intellectuals of India. It is noteworthy that in the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, 24 seats have been left vacant for the Pak Occupied Territory. Goes. It was necessary to reserve seats for the displaced people of slave Kashmir and Kashmir valley so that their sorrow, pain, problems and issues would get the attention of the country and the world. The present central government had taken a major initiative towards complete merger of Jammu and Kashmir by nullifying Articles 370 and 35A in the backdrop of the resolution of the Indian Parliament of February 22, 1994. Now is the time to be active towards the accomplishment of that resolution.
