Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Amanatullah Khan has moved the Supreme Court challenging the constitutional validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025.
Khan requested in his petition that the Waqf (Amendment) Bill should be declared “unconstitutional and Article 14, 15, 21, 25, 26, 29, 30 and 300-A” and directed to cancel it. “
“This bill violates the fundamental rights provided under Article 14, 15, 21, 25, 26, 29, 30 and 300-A of the Constitution,” Khan said in his petition. It reduces the religious and cultural autonomy of Muslims, enables arbitrary executive intervention and weakens minority rights to manage its religious and charitable institutions.
Congress MP Mohammad Javed and AIMIM President Asaduddin Owaisi challenged the validity of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 in the Supreme Court on Friday and said that it was against constitutional provisions.
