Waqf act: Through the Waqf Amendment Act, the BJP has prepared a special strategy to increase the penetration among the Christian community. Under this strategy, there is a preparation to organize Christian harmony meetings in many states of the country. These meetings will be organized in the states where Christians are considered to be the basis. The party will specially focus on areas like South India, Northeast India, Goa and Mumbai etc.

Party strategists believe that through this campaign, the party’s strength will increase among the country’s second largest minority community Christians. The party is expected to get great strength through harmony meetings in select districts of 13 states of the country to help the Christian community.

Trying to get support of Christian community

In fact, BJP’s strategists are busy exploring the possibilities of expansion and strength of the party these days. Party strategists believe that the Christian community is the most suffering from the arbitrariness of the Waqf Board. In such a situation, the party has started a campaign to strengthen its hold in this community through the Waqf Amendment Act.

BJP sources say that this campaign can prove to be a game changer in states with the influence of Christian community compared to Muslim influence states. To help Pasmanda Muslims, the party has started the Waqf Janajagaran Abhiyan, so there is a preparation to focus on the campaign of Christian harmony meetings to make inroads in the Christian community.

Litmus test of campaign will be held in Kerala

A senior BJP leader associated with this campaign said that the Christian community has a population of about 18.4 percent in Kerala. In such a situation, there will be a litmus test of this party’s campaign in Kerala. Elections are scheduled to be held in Kerala in December while assembly elections are proposed in the state in April next year. The party is working firmly on its possibilities of expansion in South India.

Despite all the efforts, the party has not yet been able to find strength in Kerala and Tamil Nadu in South India. In Tamil Nadu, the party has recently tied up with the AIADMK while the Christian community in Kerala is preparing to help.

With the result of the civic elections, it will be known how far the party has been able to get the support of the Christian community through Waqf law. Along with this, this campaign of the party will also be tested in Mumbai. Mumbai has about four percent of the Christian community population and BMC is going to be held there this year.

Party’s special focus on Northeast India too

One third of the Christian community in the country lives in areas like South India, Goa and Mumbai. Along with this, the Christian community is also in a very strong position in Northeast India. The Christian community has a population of about 30 percent in Arunachal Pradesh and this community plays a big role in deciding the election results.

Campaign in tribal influence states also

States with tribal influences of the country also have a good population of Christians. These states include states like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh, West Bengal, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and Goa.
