Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday congratulated Cardinal Robert Prevost, who is the first American elected as the Pope in the 2,000 -year history of the Catholic Church.
Rahul Gandhi said in a post on ‘X’, “Congratulations to the Cardinal Robert Prevost to be chosen as Pope Leo 14. I wish to promote peace, compassion and service service under his leadership. I wish the global Catholic community on this occasion of happiness.” Prevost (69) served as a missionary in Peru and led the powerful office of the Bishop of the Vatican. He has named his name Leo 14.
Let us know that this happened for the first time in the history of two thousand years of Catholic Church when the Pope was elected from America. On the election of Pope Leo, US President Donald Trump greeted him and described it as proud for the country.
