Things like Jammu and Kashmir in Bengal, Hindus are being forced to flee: Jyotirmaya Singh Mahato

Purulia, 15 April (IANS). Violence against Waqf law in West Bengal is not taking a name. After Malda and Murshidabad, violence has now been seen in South 24 Parganas district. BJP MP from Purulia Jyotirmaya Singh Mahato surrounded the state government over the violence in South 24 Parganas district. He said that the situation in West Bengal is not good.

BJP MP Jyotirmaya Singh Mahato said in a conversation with IANS, “Look, the BJP has been saying that the situation is not good in West Bengal. Things like Jammu and Kashmir have arisen here. Just as Hindus were forced to migrate in Kashmir in 1990, similarly in Murshidabad, Malda, Nadia and South 24 Pargana.”

He added, “I have written a letter to Home Minister Amit Shah about the situation in West Bengal. I have pleaded with him to deploy Central Force. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is planning to make West Bengal a Greater Bangladesh. You will see that violent incidents will gradually reach Purulia. Mamata Banerjee is conspiring to kill Hindus only for the vote bank.”

It is noteworthy that after passing the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2025 from Parliament, there were large-scale protests in Murshidabad, which later turned violent. A large number of Hindus are migrating from there.

Meanwhile, the Central Armed Police Force has been deployed after the violence erupted in Murshidabad district following the instructions of a special division bench of the Calcutta High Court.

The court had said that the measures taken by the West Bengal government in recent times against the Waqf (Amendment) Act were not sufficient to control communal unrest.

The bench also said that if the CAPF had been posted earlier, the situation would not have been so severe and unstable.
