Accused in parcel blast case arrested.

Ahmedabad: A few days ago, a case of explosion in a parcel delivered to a house was reported in the city. Police have arrested two more people in this case. Police have arrested accused Rupen Rao (44), who allegedly learned how to make bombs and country-made pistols from the internet, an official said. The accused had done this to take revenge from his estranged wife’s friend Baldev Sukhadiya, his wife’s father and brother. He said that the police have recovered two more bombs, a country-made pistol, cartridges and material used in making weapons from the accused. The officer said that the divorce case with Rupen Rao’s wife is in the court. The blast took place at around 10.45 am on Saturday in a house in Sabarmati area, injuring two people.

two accused were caught

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Bharat Rathore said, “After the explosion in a parcel delivered to Sukhadiya’s house in Sabarmati area on Saturday morning, we arrested a person named Gaurav Gadhvi from the spot. With the help of technical surveillance, Rupen Rao and His associate Rohan Rawal (21) was caught in the night itself. Rathore further said that the police recovered two bombs made from sulfur powder, gunpowder and an electronic circuit. Recovered a pistol which appeared to be operated by a remote control and also recovered a country-made pistol which was made by Rupen Rao.

The accused gave the reason

He said that Rupen Rao believed that Sukhadia created a rift between him and his wife and alienated him from his wife and their children. The officer said the accused believed that his wife, father-in-law and brother-in-law made him feel weak due to a stomach ailment. The officer said that the accused started learning how to make bombs and weapons on the internet over three to four months to kill Sukhadiya and his in-laws, separate his estranged wife from her family and make her feel lonely. “Hence, Rao and co-accused conspired to make a remote-controlled bomb using materials like sulfur powder, blades, batteries, charcoal and gunpowder from firecrackers,” Rathore said. He also learned how to make a country-made pistol from the internet.

Colleague supported me for 6 months

Rohan Rawal worked with Rupen Rao for six months due to financial reasons. The officer said that Rohan Rawal first delivered the parcel with the bomb to Sukhadia’s house on Friday night. However, since his targeted person was not at home, he returned without delivering the parcel, he said. The officer said that after this both of them sent Gadhvi to deliver the parcel the next day and Rawal stayed there and used the remote control to detonate the bomb. The DCP said that these people had planned to kill Rao’s father-in-law and brother-in-law in a similar manner. While searching for the accused, the police found two bombs in a car, which were defused in time by the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) and FSL teams, he said. He said that the police have also recovered a country-made pistol from the same car.

Many explosive materials recovered

Rathore said, “The actual nature of the bomb will be clear from the FSL report, but prima facie we understand that if such a bomb impacts a vital part of the body, a person can die.” Two bombs and a pistol were found. Apart from this, the police also recovered some materials used in making explosives and weapons from Rao’s house. Police said that five cartridges, four high-voltage battery cells, three incomplete country-made pistols of single and double barrel, 10 pipes of different sizes, two remotes, three mobile phones, nails and screws, cans of blades, gas cylinders, Drill machines etc. have been recovered. A case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of BNS, Arms Act and Explosive Substances Act. (input- agency)
