An incident of beating has come to light from Tapi district of Gujarat. A female Panchayat member was badly beaten with a hockey stick over a love affair. Not only this, the woman’s hair was also cut. Police have arrested one person in this regard.

Urmila Gamit of Songadh Taluka Panchayat was attacked and beaten with hockey sticks by a woman and three men on Saturday evening. Songadh police station official said that the attackers also cut his hair. According to the police officer, the woman was targeted in a public place when she was going home on a two-wheeler with her daughter.
Allegation of illicit relationship with husband
Shobhana Gambit, one of the attackers, accused Urmila of having illicit relations with her husband. He told that the people accompanying Shobhana, including her son, beat Urmila with hockey sticks, due to which the bone of her left hand was broken and there were injuries on her waist and head.
They also snatched the gold pendant and ran away with it.
Based on the case registered, the police said that the attackers also snatched her gold pendant and ran away. Urmila was taken to the local hospital. The officer said that on his complaint the police have registered an FIR and arrested one of the accused. At present, the police is busy investigating the case by examining the CCTV footage and the shopkeepers present around the incident site. (language input)
