Good news for Mumbaikars, 5 ring roads are being built; will get relief from traffic jam

Mumbai 5 Ring Roads: The country’s economic capital Mumbai is going to get relief from the problem of traffic jam soon. In fact, five ring roads are being built under the project connecting metropolises. The southern ring road will meet at Orange Gate and will connect the freeway to the coastal road of Marine Drive. It will also have a dedicated lane for buses. An investment of about Rs 70 thousand crore has been made for the project.

According to the Times of India, these five ring roads are being constructed to improve connectivity in Mumbai. Due to this, connectivity with areas like Thane, Palghar, Alibaug is also expected to improve. These ring roads will be built on the existing infrastructure, which includes Eastern Freeway, Coastal Road, WEH. They will be constructed by connecting bridges and tunnels. Mumbai will be connected to the suburbs – Mumbai will be connected to Thane, Palghar and Alibaug. However, the construction of the fifth, which is the Northern Ring Road, may take some time. Currently, the Virar-Alibaug Multimodal Corridor is also in the planning stage.

MMRDA Commissioner Sanjay Mukherjee said that the construction of new roads and additional routes will not only help vehicles to move in a uniform pattern within Mumbai but also around it. BMC, MMRDA and MSRDC have invested Rs 70 thousand crores just for the ring road. For this, MMRDA also did a study, after which the project was started. Apart from this, Mukherjee also said that there will also be a dedicated bus lane on Mumbai’s ring road, on which buses will be able to run, which will also help in reducing traffic in Mumbai.

He further said that it was very difficult to make a separate lane for buses, but the new road that is being built will make it possible. The ring road will have dedicated bus lanes and bus stops like the coastal road. Under this project, the coastal road will connect to the Bandra Worli Sea Link and extend from BKC to MCLR. The Bandra Worli Sea Link will connect to Bandra-Versova at Versova and then go towards the Western Express Highway. It will connect to the Eastern Freeway Extension at Airoli Junction. Apart from this, the Bandra Versova Sea Link will proceed to Dahisar-Bhayander, the elevated road over Thane Creek and the tunnel connecting Gaimukh. It will also connect to Thane Coastal Road and Kharegaon on the Eastern Express Highway, which will further connect it to South Mumbai.
