Ahmedabad: Anti -Terrorism Squad (ATS) in Gujarat recently seized a pain -relieving drug ‘Traumadol’ from a trader’s warehouse on charges of making ‘Alprazolam’ without license. The ATS had busted a factory for illegally making ‘Alprazolam’ near Khambhat in Anand district and arrested six people, including Ranjit Dabhi. On Tuesday, an official release stated that 107 kg ‘Alprazolam’ worth Rs 107 crore was seized.
Ranjit Dabhi deposited 500 kg traumadol in the warehouse
Originally traumadol is used as a pain reliever, but its production and sales are strictly controlled as it can also be used as an effective medicine. According to the release, during interrogation, the owner of the factory Dabhi confessed to depositing 500 kg of traumadol in his warehouse near Dholaka in Ahmedabad district without any permit.
ATS raided the warehouse
A team of ATS raided the warehouse on Monday night and recovered 500 kg tramadol worth Rs 40 crore. It has been classified as a mind -effective substance under the Self -Drug and Management Act Act and is a unauthorized production or sales offense. The release stated that investigation is going on on the source of the drug. The ATS reported that Dabhi and four others had rented a factory near Khambhat city to make ‘Alprazolam’. ‘Alprazolam’ is used to make sleeping pills. (With language inputs)
