The party going with BJP will disappear in Jammu and Kashmir; Farooq Abdullah rejected speculations of alliance

National Conference (NC) president Farooq Abdullah on Saturday ruled out any possibility of a post-poll alliance with the BJP to form the next government in Jammu and Kashmir after the assembly election results are declared on October 8. Abdullah asserted that any party forming an alliance with the BJP would disappear in Jammu and Kashmir. The former Jammu and Kashmir CM said, “The vote we have got here is a vote against the BJP.” Let us tell you that his party had contested the elections in alliance with Congress.

Speaking to news agency PTI, he said, “BJP gave problems to Muslims. Their shops, houses, mosques and schools were demolished with bulldozers. Do you think we will go with them?” He said, “I think our people will not vote for BJP. If BJP thinks that it will form the government then it lives in a cuckoo world.”

Farooq’s son Omar Abdullah echoed his father’s sentiments, saying his party would prefer to sit in the opposition rather than forge an alliance with the BJP. “Any kind of arrangement will ruin any party in Kashmir,” he said. Let us tell you that in some exit polls, no party seems to be getting majority in Jammu and Kashmir. After this, speculations regarding the alliance have intensified.

This was the first election in Jammu and Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 in 2019 and bifurcation of the region, including Ladakh, into two union territories. There are now 95 assembly seats in Jammu and Kashmir. 90 will be elected and five will be nominated by the Lieutenant Governor.

Iltija Mufti, younger daughter of PDP chief Mehbooba Mufti, accused the BJP-led central government of changing the rules in Jammu and Kashmir. He said that with these steps an attempt is being made to bring the role of CM to that of Mayor and make the government powerless. Iltija wrote on How much more will the CM snatch?
