The ‘Aparajita Bill’ introduced by the West Bengal Assembly to deal with violence and rape incidents against women has been passed. Mamata Banerjee called this bill historic and compared the Kolkata rape and murder case with incidents in BJP-ruled states like UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan. Mamata Banerjee said that the victims of rape incidents in UP, Gujarat and Rajasthan have not yet got justice. But in this case, justice will be given by the court. Mamata Banerjee said that a 20-year-old Dalit girl was brutally raped in Hathras, UP in 2020. Apart from this, an innocent girl was raped in a government hospital in Jaipur, Rajasthan last week.
Till now justice is awaited in these cases. Mamta Banerjee said, ‘The crime rate against women is unusually high in states like UP and Gujarat. Not only this, no justice has been received there. But in Bengal, women will get justice from the courts.’ During this, Mamta Banerjee also mentioned the incident that happened in Kamduni of North 24 Parganas in Bengal in 2013. Mamta Banerjee said, ‘We had demanded death penalty in the Kamduni case. But the opinion of the Supreme Court was different from the High Court and the case is still pending. But no one talks about what happened in Unnao and Hathras and why the victims did not get justice there.’
Mamata Banerjee said that now under the Aparajita law, it will be decided that cases of crimes against women should be investigated speedily. The harshest punishment should be given. She said that the Aparajita law will remove the flaws that were left in the laws made by the Center. During Mamata Banerjee’s speech, BJP’s uproar was also seen. BJP also supported the bill, but the uproar continued over not getting justice. At the same time, Mamata Banerjee in a way threw the ball in the court of the Center in the Kolkata incident.
He said, ‘We want justice from CBI. CBI should get the culprit hanged.’ Let us tell you that CBI has taken over the investigation of this case after the order of the High Court. CBI has also submitted its status report in the court and said that the crime scene has been tampered with. Due to this claim of CBI, questions have also been raised on the local police and administration.
