Team India’s legendary wicket-keeper batsman Dinesh Karthik had praised Pakistan’s captain Babar Azam in the past. He had said that Pakistani players can soon become the number-1 batsman in all three formats. There was a lot of ruckus on social media regarding this statement. People had demanded the cancellation of Karthik’s Indian citizenship. The wicket-keeper batsman has returned to Team India after three years after performing brilliantly in IPL 2022.
Now Babar Azam has reacted to Karthik’s statement. He said that it is a challenge to become number-1 in all three formats. It is important to stay fit for this. Be aware that Babar is currently the number-1 batsman in ODIs and T20s. At the same time, he is at number five in Tests. During a press conference, Babar said, “Definitely, as a player it is a dream to become No. 1 in all formats. For this you have to concentrate and work hard. It’s not that if you’re a top player in 1 or 2 formats, the job becomes easier for you.”
You have to keep yourself fit- Babar further said, “If you want to be No.1 in all three formats, then you have to keep yourself fit. Cricket is happening continuously and the gap is less. For this you need to be fit. This is something I am preparing for. It is going well in white ball cricket and hopefully I will be able to do well in Tests as well.”
What Dinesh Karthik had said – Karthik said in the ICC review, “One hundred percent (Babar has been able to achieve it) he is a high quality player, who is at the top of his batting. He is also going to play some test matches. He has been doing well in all three formats of the game and has done well in different conditions as well. I wish him all the best and believe he has potential. He is getting a lot of support in Pakistan, which is helping him to perform brilliantly for his country. ,
