Naomi Osaka was shocked at the start of her second round match against Veronica Kudermatova on Saturday after a fan abused her and could not recover from her 6-0, 6-4 loss at Indian Wells.
Star player Naomi Osaka lost to Russia’s Veronika Kudermatova in the second round of the BNP Paribas Open tennis tournament after being harassed by a fan’s abuses.
Osaka suffered a straight set 6-0, 6-4 defeat in a one-sided match. When Osaka was following behind in the first set, a female onlooker abused her from the stand.
Japan’s Osaka then went to the chair umpire and asked him to take action, but the umpire said she did not know who it was and that action could not be taken.
