India won the series 2-0 with a thrilling 4-run victory in the second and final T20 International against Ireland. The visiting team scored 225 runs for 7 wickets in 20 overs. Ireland almost reached the target, but were eventually trailed by 4 runs. Fast bowler Umran Malik did not allow Ireland to score 8 runs in the last 3 balls and ensured the victory of Team India.
Earlier, Deepak Hooda scored a brilliant century (104 runs in 57 balls), while the comeback Sanju Samson played a scorching innings of 77 runs in 42 balls. He hit 9 fours and 4 sixes during his innings at The Village Ground in Dublin. Sanju Samson opens the innings with Ishan Kishan (3). He shared a 176-run partnership for the second wicket with Deepak Hooda to bat at number three. However, he was bowled by Mark Adair on the second ball of the 17th over.
After the match, Sanju Samson discussed his innings on Sony Six. During the conversation, former India batsman Ajay Jadeja asked Sanju Samson if he was disappointed not to score a century? To this Sanju Samson said, ‘It was a good match. We had a partnership in that type of situation. There was some movement in the wicket.
Sanju said, ‘The bowlers were bowling in the right area. I think Deepak Hooda made it very easy for me. He started hitting. We communicated really well. When he was hitting like this, I was happy to give him the strike.
Samson replied to Jadeja’s question and said, ‘When I started hitting, he also did the same (gave me the strike). I am very happy for Hooda, some other day I would like to score the same score (century). I am very happy with the way I batted. However, the former India cricketer said that he felt that Sanju Samson should have also reached the century.
Ajay Jadeja told Samson, ‘Glad to hear this, but I am sad here, because I thought you should have scored a century too. I hope you feel the same, because we are all big fans of yours, especially Swanee (Graeme Swann) and me. We would love to see you make that big score too. Sorry, I am being a bit harsh, as I am a big fan of your batting.
