Virat Kohli looked quite annoyed as he walked off the field after being dismissed lbw for 48 against Mumbai Indians (MI) at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune on Saturday in IPL 2022. Not only did he hit the bat on the ground, but he was also seen shouting.
Devald Brevis, popularly known as ‘Baby AB’, sent Kohli to the pavilion on his first ball in the IPL. The former RCB captain took a review after the on-field umpire was given out. Replays showed that the ball hit the bat and pad simultaneously, so the third umpire felt there was insufficient evidence to overturn the on-field umpire’s decision. This was the reason why Kohli expressed his displeasure.
The matter is of the 19th over. Then RCB needed 8 runs to win. After Kohli’s dismissal, Maxwell came to the field and he ended the match by hitting two fours in two balls. People have expressed anger on social media over Kohli’s reaction. Many people have criticized Virat and many have expressed displeasure over the decision of the umpire.
RCB opener Anuj Rawat scored 66 runs in 47 balls, while former captain Virat Kohli scored 48 runs and with nine balls to spare, the team achieved the target of 152 runs. Earlier, RCB bowlers restricted five-time champions Mumbai to 151/6. This is the fourth consecutive defeat for Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League 2022.
Chasing 152 runs, RCB openers Faf du Plessis and Anuj Rawat got off to a good start. Du Plessis and Rawat strengthened their team on the score of 50 runs in just eight overs. The duo put on a scintillating 50-run partnership and provided the Royals with great momentum.
