Korea Open 2022: Indian men’s badminton player Kidambi Srikanth suffered a defeat in the men’s singles semi-finals of the Korea Open Super 500 badminton tournament on Saturday. With Srikanth’s defeat, the Indian challenge in the tournament also came to an end. Before Srikanth, Sindhu also had to face defeat against Korean player An Se-young in the semi-finals of the women’s singles category.

Fifth seed Srikanth lost his match in 50 minutes despite taking the lead in the first and second games. Jonathan Christie of Indonesia defeated Srikanth 21-19 21-16 to secure his place in the final. With this win, third seed Christie has made it 5-4.
Earlier, in the women’s category, PV Sindhu crashed out of the competition after losing in the semi-finals. The Indian players lost the match in 49 minutes. The Korean player defeated third seed Sindhu 21-14 21-17. World No 7 Sindhu has suffered a fourth consecutive defeat in her career against World No 4 Seyang.
