Ravichandran Ashwin took the wicket of Dhananjay de Silva in the 5th ball of the 28th over of the fourth innings of the Pink Ball Test against Sri Lanka, making him his 440th victim in Test cricket. With this, he surpassed former African cricketer Dale Steyn to take 439 wickets and became the 8th bowler in the world to take Test wickets. Caribbean legend Courtney Walsh, who took 519 Test wickets, is now ranked 7th above Ashwin.
Kusal Mendis scored 54 off 60 balls in the second innings of the Pink Ball Test against India. It was his 8th fifty in the fourth innings of a Test match. Earlier, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene and Sanath Jayasuriya had also made 8-8 fifty in the fourth innings. Apart from this, Mendis also holds the record for the highest average in the fourth innings abroad.
Kusal Mendis finished fourth behind Sunil Gavaskar (72.2), Justin Langer (68.8), Herbert Sutcliffe (65.1). He averages 61.5 in the fourth innings abroad.
