In the first Test match between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh in Gaul, Bangladesh made a tremendous start of the World Test Championship 2025-27. By the end of the first day’s play, Bangladesh have scored 292 runs for 3 wickets. Sri Lanka won the toss and decided to bowl first and they also had a good start. Thaharindu Ratnayake bowled brilliantly and gave Bangladesh’s initial shocks and put the team in loss of 3 wickets for 45 runs.
But after this, Bangladesh captain Najmul Hussain Shanto and veteran batsman Mushfiqur Rahim took the front. The two together shared an unbeaten 247 runs for the fourth wicket. Shanto scored 136 runs and Rahim scored 105 runs. The Sri Lankan spinners failed completely in front of the brilliant batting of these two.
Shinto narrowly survived in the celebration of century
A video is becoming increasingly viral on social media in which Najmul Hussain Shunto jumps in the air in joy after completing his century. Then suddenly a fast ball comes towards them. Bangladesh made a strong hold
This Test match is special for Sri Lanka, as it is the last Test match of Angelo Mathews. After this match, he will retire from international cricket. The Sri Lankan players are trying to give their gifts to this veteran all -rounder, but they have not been able to succeed in it till now. Sri Lankan spin bowlers Prabhat Jayasuriya and Tharaindu Ratnayake together put 61 overs, but could take only two wickets. Sri Lanka used a total of five bowlers, but no Bangladesh batsmen could break the strong partnership between Shunto and Mushfiqur. Now the goal of Bangladesh is to score a big score.
