Former Australian player Brett Lee has advised to give a chance to Mayank Yadav in place of Mohammed Shami for the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Actually Mayank Yadav has been making headlines for his fast pace since IPL 2024. Recently, Mayank Yadav made his international debut in the three-match T20 series against Bangladesh. Now Brett Lee advised why Mayank Yadav should be given a chance in place of Mohammed Shami in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy.
Brett Lee said via Fox Cricket, “When bowlers bowl at 135-140 kmph, the batsmen are quite comfortable. But when you bowl at a fast pace of 150, I don’t mind that. Who is there because no one wants to face him. Mayank looks like a complete package. If Mohammed Shami is not completely ready, then at least include Mayank Yadav in the squad.
Actually, nothing has been officially clarified yet regarding Mohammed Shami whether Shami will play in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy or not. Mohammed Shami has been out of action for the last one year. Mohammed Shami played the last match for Team India on November 19, 2023. After this Mohammed Shami had his heel surgery done. In such a situation, it will be interesting to see whether Shami is able to make a comeback in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy or not. Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 is going to start from 22nd November. Under this series, the trophy of five test matches will be played between India and Australia. The fifth and last match of the series will take place on January 03, 2025.
