Today the story of the Blue Diamond scandal, due to which countries like Thailand and Saudi Arabia remained enemies for 30 years. The reason behind the souring of relations between these countries was some mysterious murders in 1989 in the Saudi Crown Prince’s palace during the theft and then the theft. The theft was perpetrated by a Thai servant. What was the Blue Diamond Scandal: In the year 1989, jewelery and diamonds weighing about 91 kg were stolen from the palace of Saudi Prince Faisal bin Fahd. The theft was carried out by a Thai servant named Kriang Krai. The servant hid the stolen jewels in the vacuum cleaner. However, the most talked about was that the theft also involved a 50-carat diamond, known as the Blue Diamond.
How the jewelry was sent to Thailand: After the theft, a Thai servant put some money in his courier packet sent to his home i.e. Lampang province of Thailand and wrote a note that – “It contains some obscene material, so I want it to be searched Do not be taken His trick worked and Thai officials did not do courier checks by taking bribe dice. Then a few days later he himself came to Thailand. After this, he started selling these jewelery at low prices that the Royal Thai Police started an investigation into the theft at the request of the Saudi administration. The Thai servant was also under suspicion before the investigation. However, the jewelry was recovered a few days later and the Thai servant Kriang Krai was sentenced to five years in prison.
Fake jewelry and mysterious murders cycle: Royal Thai police arrive in Saudi Arabia to return the jewelry after the jewelry’s recovery. During the investigation, Saudi authorities found that more than half of the jewelry returned was counterfeit and the blue diamond was also missing. Meanwhile, Mohammed Al Ruwaili, a close aide of the Saudi Royal Family, reached Bangkok, the capital of Thailand, to investigate the matter. But here he died under mysterious circumstances. Subsequently, three more Saudi diplomats were killed in Thailand. After these killings, the relations between the two countries deteriorated and then almost ended.
Kya Hua Chor Ka?: Kryangkrai was put behind bars for five years for theft. He was also accused of selling jewelry before his arrest. However, Kryangkrai was released after three years for his good behavior in prison. After this he became a Buddhist monk in the year 2016. The stolen blue diamond has not been found till date, but Kryangkrai believed that the diamond was cursed and due to this many calamities had also occurred on the family of the prince.
