A draft notification has been issued by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. Under which information is being given that now the work related to scrap vehicles will be conducted digitally. Vehicle owners will get a big relief due to digital work. Also RVSF operator, Regional Transport Authority will simplify the process of vehicle scraping for all.
With this amendment, now vehicle owners will be able to apply for scrap online. Also, all the documents have to be submitted online only. In the draft issued by the ministry, it has also been said that all the processes are being completed in time to maintain the ease of doing business. Online submission of application will make the process even easier.
This investigation will be related to vehicles
The draft states that there will be necessary checks from the ministry’s ‘Vahan’ database before the vehicle owner submits the application. Check whether the vehicle is hired-purchase, lease or hypothecation agreement, there is no criminal record against the vehicle in the records of National Crime Records Bureau, there is no dues on the vehicle etc.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy in August last year and said that it would help in phase-out of unsuitable and polluting vehicles and also promote a circular economy. Under the new policy, the Center had said that states and union territories will provide up to 25 per cent tax exemption on road tax for vehicles purchased after scrapping old vehicles.
