New Delhi, Aug 3 (IANS) | India’s star badminton player PV Sindhu, who won a bronze medal at the Tokyo Olympics, was given a grand welcome on Tuesday at the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Hundreds of fans gathered at the airport and welcomed Sindhu with drums.
Sindhu created history by winning bronze medal in Tokyo. She became the first Indian woman to have won medals twice for India at the Olympics. The Andhra Pradesh government has announced a prize money of Rs 30 lakh to Sindhu. Sindhu had earlier won a silver medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics. On reaching here, Sindhu said, “I am very happy and excited. Many people congratulated me. I thank the Badminton Association and everyone for the love and support.”
