T20 Blast 2022 Final, Lancashire vs Hampshire: Hampshire, led by James Vince, won the T20 Blast 2022 title in the early morning (Indian time) of 17 July 2022. He won by one run off the last ball against Lancashire in the final played at Edgbaston, Birmingham. Hampshire have won the T20 Blast title after 10 years and for the third time in total. Earlier, he had won the T20 Blast title in 2010 and 2012.
Hampshire won the toss and elected to bat. Batting first, he scored 152 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing the target, Lancashire’s team could only manage 151 runs for 8 wickets in 20 overs. For Hampshire, wicket-keeper batsman Ben McDermott scored 62 runs at a strike rate of 172.22. He hit 4 fours and 4 sixes in his innings of 36 balls. He was also adjudged player of the match.
Lancashire did not start well. Opener and wicketkeeper Philip Salt returned to the pavilion after scoring 10 runs. After this, Steven Croft along with Keaton Jennings took the score to 72 runs. Croft returned to the pavilion on the same score. He scored 36 runs in 25 balls. Keaton Jennings’ innings came to an end after six balls.
Keaton Jennings was dismissed for 24 runs in 20 balls. Lancashire’s command was in the hands of South African wicketkeeper batsman Dan Vilas. He scored 23 runs in 21 balls. He returned to the pavilion when the team’s score was 104 runs. After him, Luke Wells tried very hard to take the team to the target, but wickets kept falling at the other end.
He was run out by James Vince on the last ball of the 19th over. James Vince was also a member of the England team that won the ODI World Cup in 2019. In the last over, the team had to score 10 runs to win, but they missed the target by one run. Hampshire had not had a good start before this.
James Vince got out after scoring 5 runs. When the team’s score was 15 runs, then Tom Prest (02) also returned to the pavilion. After this Ben McDermott stood at one end. Luke Wood took 2 wickets for 26 runs for Lancashire. Richard Gleason and Danny Lamb also managed to take a wicket each.
