Apple fans will now have to shell out more bucks for their favorite headphones in India, as the company has increased the prices of its AirPods range in the country. Apple sells AirPods 2nd Generation, AirPods 3rd Generation, AirPods Pro and AirPods Max in the country. The company has increased their prices by up to 10%. Why did the prices rise?
The reason behind the increase in price is the increase in custom duty proposed in the Union Budget 2022. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had increased the custom duty from 10% to 22%, the impact of which is now being felt on AirPods.
What are the new prices for AirPods?
The increased prices can be seen on the official website of Apple India. AirPods Max has got the highest increase of Rs 6,200 among all audio devices. The price of the headphones has now gone up to Rs 66,100. The newly launched 3rd generation AirPods are now priced at Rs 20,500 as against the launch price of Rs 18,500. AirPods Pro is now available at an increased price of Rs 26,300. To recall, the AirPods Pro was priced at Rs 24,900. The previous generation AirPods have also received a 5% hike and are now priced at ₹14,100.
It is worth noting that although the prices mentioned above are taken from the official website of Apple India, AirPods are still available at discounted prices on Amazon, Flipkart, Croma, Reliance Digital and other stores. Apart from AirPods, no other Apple product has been made expensive in India. The company has not yet made any official statement regarding the price hike.
