Google is working on a Pixel foldable smartphone. The company was supposed to launch the foldable phone in the US and other markets at the end of last year. While that apparently didn’t happen, reports suggested that the foldable Google smartphone will launch this year. Some specifications of the upcoming Pixel foldable have been revealed. According to the latest report, analyst Ross Young has revealed the screen size of the foldable phone.
Young claims that the Google Foldable phone will have a smaller cover display than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, which will come with a 6.19-inch outer screen. However, the size of the foldable display on both the devices will be the same. Let’s take a look at the specifications and features of the leaked Google Pixel foldable smartphone.
Google Pixel Foldable Smartphone Specifications
The Google Pixel Foldable smartphone may finally get a launch date this year. The rumor mill expects the foldable phone to launch by the end of 2022. Google has not yet confirmed any details of the foldable phone.
The foldable display size of the Google Foldable phone will be the same as the Z Fold 4. This means that the Pixel foldable phone could come with an 8-inch foldable screen. Young further added that the Google Foldable’s external screen will be much smaller at 5.8-inches compared to the Z Fold 4’s 6.19-inch external display. Young says that the Google Foldable’s aspect ratio will be wider than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. Notably, the Pixel’s outer screen size is similar to that of the Oppo Find N.
Rumors have it that it will have a dual camera setup at the back. The camera will have a 12.2MP Sony IMX363 primary camera and a 12MP IMX386 ultrawide camera. For selfies and video calls, the foldable phone will have two 8MP sensors – one on the foldable screen and the other on the external display. Like the new Pixel phones, the Google Foldable will also feature the company’s custom-developed Tensor series chip. However, it is not yet known whether it will be powered by the same chipset that was found in the Pixel 6 series.
