Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday said that no political party in the country should politicize religion or caste. Kharge’s statement came a day after senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad said that all political parties, including the Congress, create division among people and politicize religion and caste.
Kharge said, “No political party in India should politicize religion and caste.” He said that Congress does not politicize religion or caste and this is Azad’s personal view.
Earlier, senior Congress leader Azad had said, “Every political party divides people and society on the basis of caste and religion. Apart from this, if the Congress party is also doing such politics, then my advice is not to do it.” He said that India is a democratic country and all political parties should work within the ambit of the Indian Constitution.
