To boost the morale of BJP workers in West Bengal, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has promised to visit the state at regular intervals till the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Shah, who met MPs, MLAs and other senior leaders of the saffron party at a meeting on Friday, assured senior party leaders that he would visit the state at regular intervals.
Apart from this, Amit Shah also told the party workers and leaders to fight the Trinamool Congress politically. A senior party leader has given this information to Economic Times. Amit Shah has also asked the BJP to be ready for the 2024 elections from now on.
Citing the example of Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee, Amit Shah told party workers that when Mamata Banerjee can defeat the ruling CPI(M), BJP workers will also be able to fight. He said that now as Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is following the same path of suppressing the opposition in an undemocratic manner like the CPM.
Sources told Economic Times that Amit Shah, giving his own example, said that he faced atrocities while in the opposition and several cases were registered against him.
In a message to party leaders during the meeting, Amit Shah clarified that implementing Article 355 is not an option for West Bengal. In this meeting, Amit Shah said, “BJP should fight Trinamool politically and win the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. If you are in the opposition, you will have to bear these things.”
